For Release: May 2nd, 2007
The Kingfisher Oceanside Resort & Spa is recognized in Canadian Business magazine as one of the Top 50 “Best Workplaces in Canada” for 2007. This and related stories appears in the April 23rd issue of Canadian Business magazine, available on newsstands now and at www.canadianbusiness.com General Manager Glenn Eleiter is delighted about the #22 ranking of the Kingfisher Oceanside Resort & Spa out of the Top 50 “Best Workplaces in Canada” for 2007. “It’s wonderful that our employees have acknowledged what has been known for a long time – the Kingfisher is a great place to work! Our highest score in the survey was in the category of camaraderie. That says a lot about how we treat each other at the Kingfisher. In addition, since the Resort changed hands over a year ago, we’ve continued Lucas Stiefvaters’ (previous owner) wonderful tradition in regards to continually giving back - that’s reflected in the survey where 95% of our staff feel good about the way we contribute the community.” This list of “Best Workplaces in Canada” is compiled for Canadian Business magazine by ‘Great Place to Work® Institute Canada’. The competition process is based on two criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a 57-statement survey completed by a random selection of employees, along with their open-ended comments about their organization; the remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the organization’s culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures. This offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture. Together, they provide crucial data relative to the five trust-building dimensions of a great place to work®: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie. More than 20,000 employees across Canada participated in the 2007 “Best Workplaces in Canada” survey.
